Scholarship grants
One of Harlingen Fil-Am Organization’s social responsibility among members is by awarding monetary aid to our senior high school students who are aspiring for College. This year, a number of kids qualify as recipients and benefited such grant. Part of the requirement for being a recipient Scholar should be that the parent is a bonafide member and actively participate in any event and activities the organization partakes.
social and sports
Social events are vital to an organization. Every year, the Organization has scheduled a Sportsfest to promote ties among members and vigor through fitness and sports. Every member is encouraged to participate and group randomly as a team. At the end of the day, all team efforts does not serve to compete but promote the value of cooperation and camaraderie. It is indeed an Organizations life support system vital for its long lasting existence.
cultural and spiritual
Easter Sunday is a time for jubilation among the Christian world for the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. The Organization celebrates this day and gather together. It is as a food festivity where members bring their delicacies and favorite food to share. This fun filled event is open to non-members as guest and everyone can participate.
Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. Yes, it is the celebration of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ and as well as wrapping up what the Organization had came up for the year. It is about giving appreciation, recognition, and awards to our most deserving Members and Officers who had contributed their time unconditionally for the fulfillment of the Organizations aspirations and goals. As a whole, this Celebration culminates the year’s activities and bring us forward towards a new year of continued service to our fellow Fil-Am in Harlingen and the neighboring areas.
fund raising activity
To sustain and support our aspirations and needs, Metro Harlingen Fil-Am Association has to generate funds by way of selling food plate (Filipino Plate) to offices and to Harlingen communities. This food plate will be showcasing the ever favorite Pancit and Eggrolls paired with either Chicken Adobo or Pork Barbecue. Such activity is participated among officers, members, and volunteers and everyone is highly encouraged to be a part on this great cause. Our next food plate is upcoming and it will be announced soon. Come, be with us and join the fun!
